Walkhome is open during the exam season from 8 pm – 2 am (Sun – Wed) and 8 pm – 3 am (Thurs – Sat) until the evening of Thursday April 27th! After this date, we will be closed temporarily until we re-open in the summer (date TBD).

At Walkhome, we’ve recently amended our Privacy Policy. While we are an anonymous, confidential, and discrete service, we will now be collecting patrons’ phone numbers when walks are requested on live chat or over the phone. This amendment serves as a way to protect both our staff and patrons using our service. Visit Terms & Conditions for more information. Questions regarding this amendment can be sent to walkhome@ams.queensu.ca.

Walk Home Safe Hoodies

This year, Walkhome collaborated with our fellow AMS service, the Tricolour Outlet, to sell these bubbly, baby blue “Walk Home Safe” hoodies. 50% of the proceeds from these hoodies will be donated to the AMS Food Bank and Roots & Wings Kingston. The AMS Food Bank serves confidential and non-judgemental food service to members of the Queen’s community. They aim to provide their patrons with food services in the most comfortable environment possible. Roots & Wings Kingston is aimed at girls, trans, Two-Spirit, and gender non-conforming youth of colour between the ages of 8 and 14 in Kingston, ON. They offer diverse programming that aims to educate, empower and engage youth in social justice topics in fun and engaging ways.

Our Boundaries

We will walk you anywhere in this area! Our boundaries span ~2.2 km outwards from the Queen’s Centre. For a closer look at these boundaries, visit the Our Boundaries page.

What is Walkhome?

Walkhome is a safe-walk service that provides Queen’s students, staff/faculty, and Kingston community members with a safe, friendly, and comfortable way to travel at night. We offer anonymous, confidential, and discrete walks anywhere within our boundaries. Our staff do not wear any clothing that identifies them as Walkhome and you are not required to disclose any information about your identity (ex: name, address, etc.) if you do not feel comfortable doing so. When you request a walk, a team of two students will meet you at your pickup location and escort you to your location! You can request a walk by approaching our kiosk, which is located in the Queen’s Centre (ARC) at 284 Earl St, by calling us at 613-533-WALK (9255), or by using the live chat button on this website!

Whether you’re hesitant to walk alone at night, are unfamiliar with navigating around Kingston, or just want to have some company to chat with, Walkhome is here for you!
